Made with super-stretchy and lightweight cotton jersey that keeps kids heads cool under the hot Australian conditions with UPF50+ excellent protection, while providing a soft and comfortable hat option for those with sensory sensitivities.

NOTE: Chin strap can easily be removed if required without compromising the quality of the hat - you just need scissors
One fact you can be sure of - no two heads are the same! ALWAYS measure your child's head before purchasing to ensure you are getting the correct size.
Step 1: Distract the child with a toy or food
Step 2: Use a measuring tape to take measurement. Otherwise use a ribbon to take the size, then use a ruler to find the measurement.
Step 3: Purchase the size closest to your child's measurement. Our hats are very stretchy and will grow up to 4cm.
FOR EXAMPLE: The child measures 53cm, you will need the 54cm that will give you a lot of future wear. It's important to get the hat closest to your head size, if it's too big the hat will block your child's vision, causing discomfort and a higher chance of them pulling it off.
Brim Depth of Bucket Hats:
52cm / L / 2-3 years: Brim Depth 6cm
54cm / XL / 3-6 years: Brim Depth 6.5cm
We know it can be hard to get the sizing right!
If you find that your hat is not the right fit for your child, we accept returns of new unworn items with tags still attached for the exchange of a different size or a store credit if required. Only full priced items are accepted for return, no sale/discounted items.
TO RETURN: Please notify us by email to request a return. This must be done within 7 days of receiving your product. Remember to include details of the product you wish to receive in exchange.
The customer is responsible for the return shipping costs of the item, as well as the shipping costs of sending out the replacement item. We urge you to use shipping tracking, as the customer is solely responsible for the return of their item. Ensure the package is packed in a way that will prevent any damage during transit.
If you do not want to exchange your bedhead hat for a different product, a store credit for the original cost of the item (excluding the shipping costs) can be credited to your account.
We know that every child is different, and that some children with sensory issues and autism often dislike the sensation of wearing a hat on their head.
The Bedhead kids bucket hat is our number one choice for children with sensory issues. Firstly, the feel of the cotton and elastine jersey is lightweight, soft and stretchy, meaning it is not rigid like some other hats on the market.
The chin strap helps keep the hat on their head comfortably for children who try to take their hat off. However, this chin strap can be cut off with scissors if your child does not like the feel of the chin strap. Due to their stretch and sizing options, the bucket hat will continue to stay on their head without falling off.
The brim of the hat provides excellent sun protection. Due to it's anti-flop nature, it also means the hat will not flop into their eyes and obscure their vision. It also provides some privacy while helping to block out the bright sunlight from their eyes.
