5 Fun and Easy Easter Sensory Activities for Kids - DIY at home
🐣 Easter Sensory Activities for Kids
Fun, easy ideas to try at home this Easter
Easter is the perfect time to get creative with sensory play! Whether you're looking to calm little bodies, spark some joyful movement, or simply keep little hands busy during the school holidays, these simple activities are designed to support sensory regulation - and best of all, you can do them at home with things you likely already have.
Here are five fun and easy Easter-themed sensory activities to try at home with your kids:
1. Easter Egg Rice Hunt
🎯 Great for tactile seekers and fine motor skills
Create coloured rice by adding a few drops of food colouring and a teaspoon of vinegar to dry rice and shake it together in a plastic bag. Lay it out to dry on a tray. Repeat with different coloured dye.
Once dry, add the coloured rice to a plastic tub. Bury small plastic Easter eggs, pom poms, or mini chicks inside. Add scoops, spoons or little tongs for an extra challenge! Let your child dig, search and explore the easter themed additions - this activity is calming, focused fun.
2. Frozen Bunny Rescue
🎯 Perfect for hot days and curious fingers
Freeze small bunny or egg toys in an ice cube tray or container. Once frozen, pop them out and challenge your child to “rescue” the bunnies using warm water, droppers, spray bottles, or salt. It’s a fabulous way to engage the senses while building hand strength and problem-solving skills.

3. Bunny Tail Painting
🎯 Messy fun with a twist on traditional painting
Instead of using paintbrushes, use cotton balls clipped into pegs as “bunny tails.” Dip them into pastel-coloured paint and dab them onto paper to make Easter eggs, bunnies or free-form patterns. It’s a great way to explore texture, develop hand-eye coordination, and enjoy some calming art time.

4. Easter Scented Playdough
🎯 Soothing, creative, and oh-so-sensory
Make your own playdough with added scents like vanilla, lemon, or peppermint (add a few drops of extract or essential oil). Use cookie cutters to shape Easter eggs, bunnies and chicks. Hide small beads or buttons inside for a surprise tactile element!
These Easter sensory activities are simple to set up, calming to play with, and filled with learning opportunities. Whether your child needs to regulate, explore, or just unwind - these playful ideas are sure to bring joy and connection this holiday.
5. Floor is Lava – Bunny Feet Edition
Print or cut out bunny footprints and place them across the floor to create a path around the room. Children must jump, hop, or balance from one bunny foot to the next without touching the “lava.”
You can spread the footprints across different surfaces such as rugs, tiles, cushions, or mats to add extra sensory input and challenge balance and coordination.
