The best way to help your child concentrate, is to first work out what their brain and body crave.

For example, some kids move around a lot in their seat. These kids can benefit from an active seating aid, such as a wobble stool, wobble cushion or chair kick band. These tools allow them to use gentle body movement and energy, which in turn keeps their brain focused on the task at hand.

Allowing a child an outlet to fidget or chew can also be beneficial, depending on their sensory preferences. By fidgeting, restless energy is used without conscious awareness, allowing the brain to stay actively engaged on a specific task.

Every child's way of learning and their unique sensory preferences are different. What works for one child may not work for another. For example, a child who likes to move their body/ hands or do stimming motions may benefit from gentle movement devices such as a wobble stool, wobble cushion or a hand held fidget. In contrast, another child may find the noise of the classroom overwhelming and feel safe when wearing a pair of noise reducing earmuffs.
